Malika Andrews was a big fan of the Golden State Warriors when she was growing up. In eighth grade, she started the year at Head-Royce School and later went to a boarding school in Utah, graduating at 17 in 2012. Malika’s mom is Jewish, and she had a bat mitzvah in 2008.
After high school, Malika worked at her granddad’s civil rights law firm for a year. Later, she went to the University of Portland to study communications, finishing in 2017.
While there, she did a lot at The Beacon, the school newspaper, including being a sports writer, sports editor, and editor-in-chief. Malika reported on a player who got hurt, and after her story, the school added padding to prevent more injuries.
Malika shared that she was living with her boyfriend in New York City when the COVID-19 pandemic started in 2020.
