Is Jason Kelce Retiring? Jason Kelce, who helped the Philadelphia Eagles win the Super Bowl, is a key player on their team in the NFL. He’s been with the Eagles since 2011 and is known for being an excellent center, showing great skills and leadership that contribute to the team’s success.
He’s considered one of the best in his position because he’s fast, tough, and effective as an offensive lineman. Throughout his impressive 13 years in the league, starting as a sixth-round pick by Andy Reid in 2013, Kelce faced some serious injuries.
In 2012, he tore his MCL and had a partial tear to his ACL. In 2018, he played with a Grade 2 MCL sprain and dealt with injuries to his foot, elbow, and shoulder, as reported by Crossing Broad. In a documentary filmed during the 2022 season on Amazon Prime, Kelce openly admitted:
“Every logical thing is telling me I should stop playing football. I’ve got to tear my body apart.”
Outside of football, Kelce is also a volunteer, supporting causes like medical research and education. Fans love him not just for his playing style but also for his charismatic personality and passionate speeches.
Plus, he’s a country guy who enjoys his beer. Beyond that, Kelce is a fantastic husband and dad to three daughters, as seen on his podcast ‘New Heights,’ which he hosts with his brother Travis Kelce.

The Uncertain Future: Is Jason Kelce Retiring?
Jason Kelce is taking a break from playing football, according to reports. The NFL and ESPN both say that the 36-year-old Philadelphia Eagles center had his last game on Monday night.
Sources told ESPN that Kelce told his teammates in the locker room after they lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 32-9, in a wildcard playoff game that he plans to retire.
Even though Kelce didn’t talk to the media in the locker room, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni didn’t hold back from expressing his affection for the player, who spent his entire 13-season career in Philadelphia. Nick Sirianni said:
“I love him. He’s special and I love him. He’s one of the most special guys I’ve been around. He’s always got a place here.”
During Monday night’s game, Kelce was visibly emotional as he watched the Eagles for the last time as a member of the team.
Known as “perhaps the NFL’s best center” by the league itself, Kelce had an amazing 13-year career with achievements like the Eagles’ 2017 Super Bowl win, five All-Pro appearances, and seven Pro Bowl appearances.
In 2023, he made another Super Bowl appearance as the Eagles played against the Kansas City Chiefs, making history by facing off against his brother, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
Quarterback Jalen Hurts told reporters after Monday’s game that Kelce is a “legend in the city — really in the league” and will “forever have a special place in my heart.” Hurt added:
“I don’t want to do a disservice to him and the things he’s been able to do and overcome. His journey to where he is now didn’t come easy. It’s been a long, long time coming for him, and every year since I’ve been here it’s been, ‘Are you going to come back?’ ”
Fellow offensive lineman Lane Johnson echoed a similar sentiment, saying:
“I love him. He’s one of the best to ever play the game. The things he can do on the football field athletically — I don’t think we’ll see another one like him for a long time.”
